I took 15 good-lookin' apples and scrubbed them clean!
Then I chopped them all up and stuck them in a pot.
Look at this mother of apples!! I remember picking it because it hardly fit in the bag!
To the pot, I added about half as much water as there was apples and brought it to a boil over medium-high heat. Then I reduced the heat and let the apples simmer for 10-15 minutes.
Next, I strained the apples...and then stuck them in the blender!
Finally, I poured the mixture back into the pot and added 2 Tbsp lemon juice and cinnamon to taste (probably 1 1/2 Tbsp) and let it come to a boil again.
Look how much it made! 1500mL of applesauce...for the price of nothing (literally!!)
Can't wait to try this tomorrow :)
Wow, I never knew it was so easy to make homemade apple sauce! Love love love! Plus you can use it in other recipes!
ReplyDeleteI know! The most "time intensive" part was peeling and chopping the apples but the rest was very straightforward. I love using applesauce in brownies :).
ReplyDeleteDo we have a recipe for the applesauce brownies? I'd also like to reiterate that I <3 your blog. LOVE describes how I feel about you and your blogging endeavours. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, due to the unfortunate reality that my computer is, in fact, stupid, I haven't been able to post to your blog for quite some time. But I have been reading it. And now I've discovered that if I post "anonymously" my comments will actually show up. Yeehaw!
PS- This is Morgan. I forgot to sign my anonymous comment. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha...I was wondering who the anonymous poster was ;). And I will indeed post the applesauce brownie recipe. I'll probably be making them tomorrow as a destresser and will write about it then. So glad you're able to post again!
