2012 Resolutions

I don't know about you but I gave up on making a list of New Years resolutions a while ago. But don't worry, this post won't be too depressing ;).

The truth is that I used to make a long list of areas that I wanted to improve in my life only to find myself wallowing in self-pity two weeks later when I realized nothing had changed. So instead of setting several broad goals for the year, I try to set goals for each month with one of my roomies. This month we post them on the fridge...can you spot them?

Neither can I :P.

I can't quite believe I'm referring to this but in one of our classes we talked about setting "SMART" goals. Ones that are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely. And I think that's why the monthly goals work so well...because they tend to be all of those things.

With all that being said, I did set one goal for the year.

Run A Marathon

I think a shiver just went down my spine. The whole idea still freaks me out a bit but luckily I have my cousin to keep me accountable. In fact, she's running a marathon with me! So I'm slowly getting back on my running legs (after 17 days of utmost lethargy) and already have 2 runs under my belt. But believe me, it was like pulling teeth to muster up the motivation, especially this morning. Thankfully I knew that a yummy brekkie would follow:

My new favourite! Green smoothie in a bowl with dorset cereal and chia seeds.

So I guess now I have everyone who reads this to keep me accountable as well! I'll be posting more about my running progress in the months to come :).

  4. Whoa! I didn't know anyone else who drank (or ate, for that matter) green smoothies.
