Life's like an hourglass glued to the table

Breathe (2am) by Anna Nalick. It's an old song but one that I still love. And yes, 2005 is officially classified as old :P. The title for this post is taken from a line in that song and while it may seem a tad depressing it serves to remind me how precious time - and life - is.

Today I found myself wanting to put that hourglass on pause. Pause so I could do my full workout. Pause so I could properly prepare for the case today and master neuroanatomy. Pause so I could spend time with friends. And pause so that I could actually go to choir stress-free (I skipped today...eek!).

But maybe that's what makes up the special moments in life. Maybe the fact that we can't do everything we always want to helps us appreciate what we do have...

Like the fact that the Public Gardens were on my way home from elective...

Or the fact that my applesauce is even creamier and sweeter after a day in the fridge :).

Hope you're able to take a moment to enjoy some aspect of your day, no matter how big or small it is!

  1. My comments are back with a vengeance, fyi. :)
Ahh, I love the Public Gardens!!! Your pics make me miss home! But in the spirit of your post, I will be thankful that there is a similarish park in the downtown area here.
The apple sauce looks super dee duper delicious. I've never made pureed apple sauce, only the chunky kind. Mmmmmm.... you should try yours with cottage cheese for a yummy protein option. -Morgan
