Healthy brownies?

Yes, you read it right! Healthy brownies do exist! And although they have more of a cake-like texture they're still 100% delicious.

Since I was all out of eggs today I decided to go with a vegan brownie recipe. To be honest, this one is better (in my personal opinion), but these ones turned out to be pretty tasty as well!

To make these healthy brownies you will need:

  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips.
In separate bowls, mix the wet and the dry ingredients (or if you are in a rush as I was, mix them all together...just beware of the clumps that the cocoa can form).

Add chocolate chips...yummmy!!!

Spread in a greased 9x9" pan and bake at 350F for 25-30 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.

Serve and enjoy...and feel good that you're getting a small serving of fruit with your dessert ;)

  1. Yeehaw! They look yummy! I made flourless brownies a few weeks ago- they were real good. Perhaps a little too good.... They are healthy but definitely not low calorie- there is a ton of nut butter in them. But I used natural varieties, so there was no added sugar or salt...bonus!

  2. Ooooh...would you be able to give me that recipe? Those sound delicious! And these brownies actually tasted a LOT better on Day 2 &3. I think the piece I ate had a high salt density...I kind of eyeballed that ingredient. Lesson learned! haha.
